Halfbeak

A silver-white breeding variant of Dermogenys siamensis exists, often mistakenly referred to in the hobby as D. pusillus or D. pusilla—names that actually belong to a different species not typically kept in aquariums. This particular form displays an overproduction of shiny pigment (guanine) in its skin cells, similar to what is seen in gold tetras. While such a mutation would rarely survive in the wild due to its high visibility to predators, it is highly prized in the aquarium hobby for its striking, eye-catching appearance.
